A National Day of Prayer event will be held beginning at noon Saturday, May 1, in the Rodeheaver Auditorium, Winona Lake, to pray for the community and the country. The theme for this year is “One Voice United In Prayer.”
Dr. Erik Ohman, pastor of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, will be the keynote speaker for the local observance. He has been instrumental in planting mission-oriented schools, churches, homes and orphanages. While living in Colorado, he established the largest National Day of Prayer breakfast in the state.
Other representatives from the community will lead prayers for six areas of focus including: government, Ellen Swaim, Winona Lake town clerk; ministry, Brian Koorey, pastor of world missions at Warsaw Community Church; education, Dr. Bill Katip, president of Grace College; military, George Fish, father of Major Bret Fish, USAF pilot; media, Dr. Terry White, journalism professor at Grace College; family, Dr. Joe Graham, assistant professor of behavioral science at Grace College.
Those who are unable to attend the event at Rodeheaver Auditorium are encouraged to join others around the nation in prayer wherever they are at the time.
